The icon depicts the three visitors or angels who came to Abraham at the Oak of Mamre. (Genesis 18:1-10)
The hospitality offered by Abraham and Sarah was rewarded with the gift of a son. this speaks of the fruitfulness that comes from unreserved generosity.
The icon also represents the three persons of the Trinity and their invitation to us to be refreshed and renewed at their table.
It reinforces the ideas of relationship, community and inclusivity.
